Child Protection Policy

Children developing climbing skills.

Equal Voice’s policy is to work at all times with the best interests of the child as the primary consideration. The company prides itself on having a culture of mutual respect between staff, children, young people and adults. Equal Voice has a Code of Good Practice for working with Young People, which all employees are issued with. In addition, staff receive training appropriate to their position and, where relevant, Guidance Notes for working in schools. All Equal Voice staff, workshop leaders and Council of Management Members are briefed on the policy and must agree to apply it in practice.

There is an identified member of staff (Samantha Rowe-Beddoe) to whom all suspected incidents of abuse or any concerns should be reported. Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) Police Checks are carried out, at the Company’s expense, on all staff working directly with children. Staff are required to supply all necessary information required for a CRB check. The policy is incorporated in all contracts of employment and kept up to date through an annual review system.

"Self-esteem was built by Equal Voice appreciating what all children had to offer. Children grew in confidence and became braver in exposing feelings"
