
The Equal Voice transitions programme aims to support and equip young people to successfully manage the move from primary to secondary school. The emphasis of the programme is to prepare young people emotionally for impending change and work creatively to discuss/practice choices and strategies they might take.
The transitions programme is tailored for each school and runs in conjunction with other transition activities provided by the school. The length of the programme varies from 4-6 weeks.
Typical 4-6 week Transition Programme:
| Week 1 | Introductory Equal Voice Session – focus on trust in the group |
| Week 2 | Concerns of the group and areas of focus which are likely to include: Building new friendship groups Types of bullying New style of schooling Establishing own identity and resisting peer pressure |
| Week 3 –5 | Focus on areas of concern using Equal Voice techniques to develop peer support and strategies |
| Week 6 | Presentation to school |
